I gave my 1985 Toyota pick-up to a buddy in exchange for some a/c work on our house. Now I don't have something to make Home Depot runs with (I am doing quite a bit of remodeling at the house I just moved out of to get it ready for sale/rent). I would like to install a hitch on the LX450, so I can pull a trailer from time to time. Any recommendations on where to get one, and possibly get it installed by a pro? How many banana job is something like this.

Until I get the wife something else, it's her primary vehicle. The truck is pretty much stock right now. When I get her something else a few years from now (hopefully sooner), I want to do some modifications to it like a lift, bumpers, sliders, etc. So, I don't want any hitch I get to interfere with a replacement rear bumper. If you have the time and experience with something like this, please give me your $0.02. Thanks.

Many people remove their factory hitch if they want to wheel the truck, as it often drags on the rocks. Maybe someone has one they don't want to hang on to. You might want to check for the wiring- you might already have it. I haven't ever seen an LX without a tow package, so it's possible the previous owner took off the hitch, and the wires would still be there. It's also possible it didn't come with one, so you might have to source the wire harness as well- maybe through Toyota.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping someone here would have a factory take-off for sale. I'll look for the recovery loops and wiring tonight if I get home before dark or before the week is over. I will let you know MB. Thanks.

I have a couple of take offs, they have "some" trail scratches.:D Dead simple to install, 6 bolts. PM if you want to make a deal.
