I have searched the 25 section, and came up with nothing... So sorry in advance if this is an ignorant question.

I want to remove my doors (1962 fj40 hardtop) and assume I need to hit the hinge pin upward to remove....or some how cut out. Can I just buy bolts and nuts from the hardware store to replace or sd I need to order fj40 door hinge pins and bushings for a later model and hope they fit mine? Is it a bad idea to try fabbing up something to make the doors come off easier in the future like others have done?

Also, any tips on removing these doors if the hinge pins don't move? Angle grinder to the tops or middles, heat, leave the doors on for summer?

Thanks in advance.

should be the same size as the later 40 stuff. my 64 doors on the 45 were.

some people have had luck putting the top pin in upside down so you don't have to fold the windshield to get it out

I have always used something like a chisel to drive the pin out by the head. Trying to drive the pin out from the bottom can cause the pin to mushroom making harder to get it out. Since I rarely remove the doors with top on so I have never bother to install the top pin upside down but not a bad idea if your want to keep the top on and remove the doors.
