Hi
Has anyone added or replaced the stock hilux 50L fuel tank?
I would like about 70-100L fuel capacity, what are my options?
Is there a good alternative? can I add another on the other side of the truck and link the 2 fuel cells together? Is there a company that produces aftermarket diesel fuel tanks that mount under the truck?
thanks
mika

Where are you? If you're in Canada, you'll probably want to take a look at the aftermarket or secondary tanks for the gasser pickups. Not sure how compatible they are but it's worth a shot.

going to put this in the JDM alliance section, but leave redirect here.

I have heard of a Nissan Patrol GX tank being put under the vehicle.

What vehicle is it on (Hilux, Hilux Surf, Single Cab, Double cab etc).

If it is a Pickup a good choice would be to get a custom one made for the pickup bed. For the Hilux Surf I am pretty sure other sizes were available for different markets, Mine had a 55 Litre tank and I think thta the largest available was a 75 litre tank.

it is a double cab hilux, I would like to keep the bed open, so want to mount a tank under truck.
75 liter would be nice, I really don't want to fill the truck every 2 days.
thanks,
so from lack of responses it seems that this is not a concern to any hilux owners and the small jdm tanks.
I hope I can find a larger tanks from a reckers yard.
too bad there aren't any aftermarket dealers who have any auxillary tanks around

I really don't think there is many Hilux owners on here. A few. But not enough in the know. You could post on the Toyota Tech page like Denis showed. Or search for a hilux forum

I would search for tank at the wreakers. figure out the dimensions you need and search. Or mount an external tank in the box with a switching valve from a ford that had dual tanks. But make the second tank removable. They make sweet looking toolbox(delta stlye) that are fuel tanks too. Diamond plate alum.

The T100's and maybe four runners/ tacoma have a 75 liter tank. Go and look at one in the junkers. Take pictures. compare pick up points, neck location/diameter, also take the transmitter. in case its different.

Thanks, I will start checking wrecking yards?
what will I need to change in a tank (gas) to retro it to hold diesel? Will the sending unit seal need to be changes and the filler hose I would imagine? but the steel tank itself should be ok right?
thanks brown bear.

Not sure, seals should not make a diff for diesel to gas. But you might want the sending unit, as the flange will be diff than a yota one I presume.

I would look for a Tacoma one from a similar year. I have hard time believing the Tacoma here had a 55l tank, our highway driving it too far from gas stations. So a tank from Canadian truck must be bigger. My T100 had a 75 liter tank.
