The GX550 has a little cubby on the left side of the trunk, near the hatch. From old marketing pictures, this is where the mythical built-in air compressor goes. I'm still hoping Lexus brings this to market. I'm also assuming there's a big power tap behind there, as compressors use a lot of amps, and I can't imagine Lexus expecting dealers to run fresh (and heavy gauge) wiring all the way from the front to the rear to install an official accessory.

Meanwhile, I've been poking around behind some panels. I noticed that there's a large cavern beneath the cupholder on the right side of the vehicle--probably big enough for a second battery. There also seem to be power connectors in there. There's no such cavern on the left side.

Anyone have any insights on the space on the right?

Take it apart and post it!

I assume you have an Overtrail or one without third row air? In the 3 row 460s, the right rear is where they put the secondary AC unit for the third row.
