I've got a base '10 and swapped some Morimoto 2strokes into my low beams and the throw sucks! Living in SW Colorado, we have a lot of dark county and highway roads, with plenty of wildlife and snow. I put something up on the GXOR FB page and the opinions were unanimous that LEDs suck in our projectors, and HID is the way to go.

There are an overwhelming amount of HID options out there, the H11 fitting really suffers from a paradox of choice.
I'm down to 4 options that I've heard good things about, and I was curious to hear if anyone here has experience with them.
Morimoto Elites for $165
GTR for $258
Xenon Depot w/ 4300 Phillips bulbs for $275
Hylux set up for $154

I might cross post this over to the 5th gen Toyota guys to see their results.

Morimotos in the lowbeams, stock fogs. I'll probably move the morimotos into the fog location.

I like the clean lines & look of your truck with the chunky side protection removed and graphite TRD wheels.

You likely already have, but consider a subtle accessory lighting option for your truck. I put Baja Designs S2 Pro on a previous truck and dramatically upgraded light output. You could look into doing Baja Designs Squadron-R (Rounds) into the stock fog position. 4 inch.

I've gone a bit different route so far with a "lightweight" support structure for Baja Designs LP6 lighting....

I'll look forward to hearing if you get any solid feedback on low beam replacement for our specific (2010-2013 basic housing). There is a lot of content on the upgrade lighting subject (great long, light nerd thread on options on Tacoma world). I think I may go with the low cost H9 upgrade (likely phillips) and see what improvement that nets for snow season in the Cascades.

Good success

Hey thanks man! That H9 swap is in the back of my mind too. I hear it's really effective... I'm willing to "settle" for that, but if I get some compelling HID feedback, I'd like to upgrade once and do it right. I live 3 hours from the closest interstate, it's dark here and where I play, so solid lighting is important to me.
Once I get my lows and fogs squared away, I'm going to figure out a slim, 1 row light bar right behind the bottom of my grill, and a pair of Amber fog pods in those openings that are level with our fog lights.

I been running cheap kensun H11 HID on my GX470 and I am pretty satisfied. One thing I notice on my GX is the sport headlight are actually tinted. Using 5000K bulb produce light closer to 4300k color temperature. Should not be an issue on your GX460.

LED color temperature give me a lot of issue. 6000K is too white for me. I prefer something 4300k. The focus on LED also seems to create a lot of problem. The technology is still maturing and they still cannot really match the focal point of halogen yet.

I ran the above in my 100 with LS430 projectors. They are awesome.

Currently I'm running an H9 in my GX on the driver's/ HID on the passenger. The HID is far superior compared to the incandescent.

1st. Just the low beams.
2nd. Aurora's+ light bar+ HID's.
