Hi-Lift Jack Mounting on Trailer Hitch

I know you guys love a good fabrication thread. Don't know if this is a "good" one but I'll show you what I made over the weekend.
I need a way to carry the hi-lift outside the truck. Looking at the Curt Class V hitch, I came up with an idea to weld wings on it, use store bought stand offs and mount the hi-lift slightly above and forward of the trailer ball.









I'll drill the studs above the wing nuts ans toss on a couple little locks, to keep the honest honest and prevent the wing nuts from backing out.
The hitch was really rusty and nasty, the powder coat was coming off and cancer was setting in between the PC and the steel. So I power scrubbed it with an angle grinder and 40 grit flap wheels. Welded on my additions and painted the whole thing in gloss black Tractor and Implement Paint. Good to go for a few years at least.

I like the fact that it doesn't give me the feeling of imminent decapitation that mounting it up front on the ARB does.

Honestly, no, completely forgot about them. They are under a trim panel, out of sight, out of mind.

High Lift Jacks work best when clean and dry! Avoid locating then to constant exposed to the elements. When clean and lubricated they work great, dirty and corroded they can KILL!

That's really good point and I wonder about the peeps that have them strapped to their DDs; and just so you know, this one won't "live" there. That it's carry location for trips. The truck is my DD, if I need a Hi-lift for mall crawling, I'm probably doing it wrong.
