I know you guys love a good fabrication thread. Don't know if this is a "good" one but I'll show you what I made over the weekend.
I need a way to carry the hi-lift outside the truck. Looking at the Curt Class V hitch, I came up with an idea to weld wings on it, use store bought stand offs and mount the hi-lift slightly above and forward of the trailer ball.




I'll drill the studs above the wing nuts ans toss on a couple little locks, to keep the honest honest and prevent the wing nuts from backing out.
The hitch was really rusty and nasty, the powder coat was coming off and cancer was setting in between the PC and the steel. So I power scrubbed it with an angle grinder and 40 grit flap wheels. Welded on my additions and painted the whole thing in gloss black Tractor and Implement Paint. Good to go for a few years at least.
