Really great to visit the forums.

I have found a old landcruiser 60, the 3f engine is not working, body is at the critical condition, interior...erm at least i dont wish to sit in there.

I am just wondering should I rebuild it? How much does the entire project cost, and are those parts easy to get (both original or OEM)?

Welcome.

First off where are you located? 60 with 3F sounds like out of the US. Have you bought it? How much are they asking? Sounds like a lot of work. You are usually better off in spending more and getting something with a clean body and running engine.

Cost? You talking about getting it running to drive to the mall or doing the Rubicon trail? You have any pictures? There are a lot of places to get used parts and new parts are reasonable still for most small things.

Welcome. Like the others said, it depends on where you are, what vehicle it is (US or not, FJ60 or FJ62), the current condition, and what you plan to do to it.

You can usually find a better deal with patience and some research. The costs to start from scratch on an older, non maintained cruiser (or any vehicle for that matter) can be quite suprising $$$.

Both new OEM Toyota and used parts are relatively easy to find with sources like ih8mud.

It depends on your budget and if you are going to do all the work. You can easily drop $2,000 in to it and still have things to work on all the time. That being said, when I bought mine I have never looked back. I love these beasts.

Show us pics or describe it better so we can help diagnose what needs to be fixed and how much it will cost you.

There is no such thing as a free cruiser. But, free is good compared to paying. To give you an example, I bought one for $250 with a bad engine; rust free, good interior, other wise in good shape, heavy bumpers, stock. I had it in decent running shape about $5K later. Still spending on it though, but more for fun now. Like others have said, don't start with a beater. Take the beater (rust, Xtr. high miles, neglect) and part it out and use the money to start with a better one (that may not be feasible with a gift?).

Is this an FJ60 or 62 ? (one round headlamp, or two rectangles ?)

As others have said, parts are relatively available both OEM and aftermarket, new and used.... I bought mine for $ 1500, '85 FJ60, with a blown motor, mild rust. I stopped counting at $15K for the build, but I'm just about done. I bought a lot of stuff new, a lot from MUD members, and a bunch used. I've done all the work myself except the engine rebuild which I left to a knowledgeable pro.

I've replaced suspension, tranny, rebuilt t'case, FF rear axle, rebuilt the front axle and steering and steering box and a new long range gas tank. I painted the frame and undercarriage.

I've been working on it STEADILY since July of 2007!!

Know what you're getting into, but I tell you, you will not find another 4x4 as rewarding as an FJ60! These things are tanks and fully rebuildable - they're meant to be.

Not to mention, they're a complete chick magnet !!!
