Hi All,
Been watching this forum for a bit.....congrats on a awesome, informative and friendly forum.

I brought '99 LX470 (LPG Gas ) a year ago.... love it, replaced my '02 100 series cruiser ( straight six petrol ) for lower miles and cheaper to run on LPG.

All is been good till, I had.......... "Thottle Position Sensor/Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor problems " as mentioned in a heap of other threads............

I changed the TPS ( cheap and easy), but didnt want to admit it was the APPS LEVER ASSY, THROTTLE Part number - 22060-50011 - all the classic signs as described by the forum. ( also had codes checked on proper scanner ), and been through all problem solving from manual, only things now could be is APPS or ECU ( hope not )

I have 2 questions / Problems.

1. I brought a OBD11 reader ( cheap ) only to find in Australia, the compliance to be OBD protocol was not mandatory till '06, I think. Anyhow shudder checked before I brought but only was cheap, can any one tell me what protocol my ECU in Australia is ? and if there is a cheap easy way to interface to the ECU ?

2. I tried to buy a new APPS Part number - 22060-50011 from the states ( $250 -$280 AUD ) ( $750 - $950 AUD here in Sydney) why such a difference ?
Anyhow, I tried through a site that buys and ships for you, but they came back and said
"The merchant has cancelled this order as for this specific part, Toyota will not allow overseas shipment. Even for domestic distribution of this specific part, a VIN (vehicle identification number) and the mileage of the vehicle is required by Toyota. As such order has been cancelled. "

Can anyone help ??? Im open to suggestions, just don't want to pay $500 + more for the same part !!! - I have a US address to send to.

Cheers,

Hi aussielex.
The ODB scanners, Scangauge etc doesn't work in the Lexus.

Wilsil, for the benefit of anyone else reading this you need to be more specific.

It wont work in that year of Lexus and Toyota. OBD2 from memory was in Oz in 2002 onwards of models of most vehicles. I actually thought we (Oz) got OBD1 in 1998 but hey i have a memory like a umm...umm......

collander

But my 2005 LC100 GXL is OBD2 compliant so OBD1 you'd assume was before OBD2.

I have a ScanGauge2 i can send you if you want as long as you promise to post it back to me.
PM me
cheers

Ok. More specific.
My 2002 LX470 doesn't work with ODB readers.

Wilsil your correct, we have a different protocol ECU...... to the rest of the world or at least US,
moooooooo, thanks heaps for the offer, if I get stuck I might PM you, at this stage I have mates with full on scanners who can read my codes.
The only problem now...... is getting a APPS, from the US, and not paying the extra $500......

There is even the difference between an Ozzie 2002 LC100 and LX470.
Different wiring. I noticed this when I had a new window master switch from a LC100 and it didn't fit. Different connector 22-pin vs 15-pin.
