How come when I see a lot of these 40's for sale, a lot of them have diamond plate on them? Is that a cheaper way to fix rust, or do people actually think it looks better that way?

cheap way to "fix" rust... being aluminum, the diamond plate actually makes the steel rust quicker

Yip, I see a lot of diamond plate on the rear quarters and no doubt about it it's typically to cover rust and provide structure since this is a primary area our 40's rust out.

So what I'm hearing is that if you see a truck with diamond plate on it, it's best to look elsewhere? Not that I'm looking, but I might be some time in the future :0

we moved into our new home a few months back and the wife took all of my flannel shirts and said its time to let these go Greg Brady (historical significance for those under 20yr old).... and to the salvation army they went. last weekend we went to atlanta it was likely to be cold so i pulled out my only coat. A bomber jacket from 1988 (very cool in its day) she got a good laugh once again and asked me if i also had a "members only" jacket too.. point is what was cool 10, 20 yrs ago looks a lil silly now. diamond plate and members only jackets included. the bomber jacket is time less i dont care what she says.. map liner inside incase you... well you know.
