LPG is half butane and half propane, so not quite like bbq gas

That is not true in the USA. LPG in USA is used as a home heating fuel, stored in tanks outside. In cold weather (below freezing), butane drops to liquid at standard atmospheric pressure. It has no useful pressure at freezing temps, so would not work as a pressurized fuel gas in winter. LPG has to be pure Liquified Propane Gas to work consistently at all temps.
