For the second time I am posting to the forum to say hi after a long absence.

For those that remember, I was in the middle of a move to Washington State. Wow how things tend to change. I changed companies that I work for and while I did move from the central part of Tucson, I only moved as far as Rita Ranch. :-)

The good news is that the FJ40 now has a garage to live in, the bad news is that the FJ40 hasn't been out of the garage since we moved in.

I do have a cruiser question. I have decided that it is time to get the V8, disc brake and 4 speed conversion done to the FJ40. Sadly I don't have the time to really do much work myself. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone who does quality work at a fair price?

Alvin, we need to get together and have a beer.

Scott

When you find a quality place that knows and will work on FJ40s in a hard-core way (I don't mean an oil change  ) let me know. I've not had good luck with shops to work on mine. $$$$$$ dollars later and the 40 sits in the garage, won't pass emissions, has a rear main seal leak (new engine!), fuel injection that kinda works, etc.

Sorry I can't be of help.

You know most of what you're talking about doing has been done many times and there is lots of info on MUD. An Advance Adapters or Downey kit, the right parts, etc. and you can be up and running. Just be sure to do it right and not try and cut corners. Ask me how I know...

I had always wanted to do it myself, and sort of got started once, but my work schedule just doesn't really allow me to take on that sort of a project.

As sad as it is, it will get done much sooner of I can find someone to pay for it.

Hey Scott!!
Well I don't currently have a job so I'm sitting around a lot. Beer sounds good.

Dude, I am really sorry to hear about your being out of work. I will PM you some current contact info. Is Ross still active here?

Ross actually has a job right now, so he's been busy. He's teaching at PCC on the northwest side.

Welcome back!!! :flipoff2:

And

Man that sucks Alvin!!! I knew they were cutting salaries but you got laid off too! I am really sorry to hear that! Not to worry Obama will fix everything ;) I am sure you checks for gas money and mortgage are in the mail.

I won't be holding my breath on that one.

Thanks.
I'll be fine. I have a good job prospect, money in the bank and someone coming down to buy the trailer this weekend. Right now, I'm enjoying my second week off.

Scott, Tim Hill said he was semi-retired, but he may want to do another conversion. Might give him a hollar.

Looking forward to meeting you someday, John

Yeah, I need to get in touch with Tim. I talked to him a couple years ago and he said that he wasn't looking to do any conversions, but might still be worth a call.

Bill Lee from Bill's toy shop, He's out of Silver City New Mexico, He got someone that trailers cars to him from tucson to silver city. If I can't fix it my self he's the only one I trust.
