Can anybody help me identify what resides in the differential of this dana 60? Yesterday I went to look at a 14-bolt rear axle (Craigslist add), but the axle doesn't have a visible BOM stamped on the back of the axle housing/tube anymore. When I popped open the differential cover, this is what I found. Is it some type of locker or something? Thanks in advance for your help!

Nobody?!?! Just trying to figure out what the "shiny" parts between the ring and spider gears are... I've never looked inside a 14-bolt before, and thus don't know what I'm looking at. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't hold me to this but it could be factory limited slip or posi...

It is a factory Gov lock, better known as "gov bomb"

Thats not a d60 or a 14Bfull floater. Thats not a locker either.

Thats axle is a 14 bolt corporate semifloater. One piece axles with one wheel bearing.

The carrier/diff is as stated above a govbomb. Junk.

The axle however can be desirable if it is the 6 lug version. The 6 lug one is a pretty stout rear compared to other 6 lug choices.
If it is the 8 lug version its no better than a boat anchor. Nothing worse than a C-clip 8 lug rear axle. Tons of better options in the 8 lug arena.

If you find a 5 lug 14 bolt rear, grab it. Thats gold off of a ss4542wd truck. Guys pay big for those for hot rods and street trucks.

Ouch; thanks a bunch for the info! Seeing as how it is an 8-lug axle, I'm guessing from your response that it isn't worth purchasing unless I also own a boat (which I don't).
