Well hopefully you also have not damaged any cylinder walls with running the oil level too low. I personally would remove the oil filter and do a fresh oil change, running on 3 qt of oil for any time will kill the oil(not to mention the extra fuel that will be in the fuel). When you remove the oil filter cut it open and look in side for metal. metal that a magnet will attract will be cylinder wall, any not attracted by the magnet will be either bearing or pistons. If you find any slow loss of oil pressure this will be a sign of bearing being hurt. I do not think you can blame the gass for any of this. Too places the wires will get hurt are around the computer as the wires set on metal, and the EGR pipe when the wiring harness touches the pipe. later robbie
 
New oil and filter were done.
