Recently bought grote 64021 housing and GE H5001 bulbs along with a wiring harness which I bought from Daniel Stern lighting.

Anyway....how the heck to you secure the bulb in the housing?? They are supposed to work together but the light freely spins even with outter ring screwed tight...

I am guessing I need to do adjustments with the metal tabs....I started to try to bend one back in and it wouldn't budge and it started to scratch the housing.

Thought this would be a simple upgrade...

Any help??

Any update on this?

I was about to pull the trigger on a Grote/Cibie combo from D.Stern also..

Are you happy with the combo (assuming you got the same ones as he recommended for me, which are Cibie convex parabolic item, $79/ea. Use it with "+50" H1 bulbs, $15.59/ea.)

Please let me know!

Hmmm not sure if mine is the same setup. I got H5001 bulbs-$8.00 each. The grote housing $29.00-each and the wiring harness from Daniel Stern.

The update is:

I was at Napa and saw some H5001 on the shelf and figured I would take a quick look at them and compare them to the ones I bought of Amazon.

Low and behold the mounting tabs on the back of the Napa light was a little differant then the GE lights from Amazon.

Brought them home and they fit in snuggly without any adjustments.

I think the Slee wiring harness would have made the hook part a little easier, as I learned the light system in cruisers are "negative-switched" or something like that.....anyway, all it means is the the directions on the harness from Stern are incorrect, however he emailed me the correct procedure.

For the price, I am definitely happy. I have upgraded low and hi beams already, but adding these lights brighten up the area some more.
