I am trying to wire in an MSD 6T (p/n 6446) into the TBI in my '76. I am apparently missing something huge because I cannot figure the wiring out. My setup involves:
'78 distributor (modified to pull out advance - per Downey instructions and TBI thread)
Standard barrel type coil without amplifier
MSD 6T
I have tried emailing MSD but haven't got an answer.
I am using the GM TBI from an Astro van. I have attached the GM wiring diagram that matches what I have.
I am also attaching the MSD instructions.
Can someone tune me in to what goes where? I know the heavy red and heavy black go to the battery. The black should go to the - side of the coil and orange to the + side of the coil. The red and white should connect to the P/u in the distributor. How do I tie in the white, purple, tan, and black to have it talk to the computer?

Apparently working on your cruiser late at night is not the ideal time to try and figure stuff out. After not getting a response from MSD for a few days on my query, I broke down and picked up the phone. The tech support guy at MSD was very good and patient. It took some time but he was finally able to explain that I could not replace the GM ignition module as it talks with the computer and the MSD does not. It just replaces the coil part. I need to wire the ignition the way GM says and then use the 'dual connector' coil wiring diagram to put the MSD in place of the GM coil ONLY.. It means I have to use the GM ignition module still, so I think I will do the GM distributor switch and give the module a good place to live.
