My wife did a silly thing and wasn't looking when she backed up and rubbed the back of her car on a guardrail. I, being the hero told her I'd take care of it. That was like 2 years ago. This year for her birthday I said her present was a full detail and body repair. I can handle scrubbing and waxing, but I'm a complete n00b at body work. I managed to scrup off most of the yellow paint with a scotch brite pad, but it didn't bring the white back.
I'm hoping to get some advice on how to do a quick repair that will get me by without respraying the whole car and thousands of hours in labor.
For being a stupid little mishap, it really did a number on it. Most of the damage is to the rear clip but managed to gouge the fender (there's actually a crease running parallel to the arc of the wheel well) I'll ignore the crease but some Bondo will need to be applied to that gouge.
I had some paint and clearcoat mixed in aerosol cans but I almost want to brush on some scratch repair and call it a day. I'm grateful for any suggestions you all might have.
