LC100 4,2TD IFS modification lift, tires, transmission
I´m looking for a LC100 4,2TD and have some question about them. I have read a lot of threads but I still need some help. I hope you can take the time to answer my question or type links to right threads:

I´m going to modify the car but also have some question about what I need to do.

Lift: 2-2,5"
ARB front bar with Warn winch.
ARB rear bar with spare tire and ladder.
Diff drop kit do I need it?
31-33" tires
ARB front locker
ARB rear locker
Extreme Valve Body
Rock sliders

1) I´m looking for a LC100 IFS 4,2TD (We don´t have any 105). What production year is the best? Automatic transmission. I have read the sleeoffroads LC100 for dummies but still wonder? In 2003 I could see that the transmission was changed from he 4 speed to 5 speed. Which is the better one?

2) I´m going to modify the car but want little help about what i should change in the same time as I get the lift? Torsion bar? CV´s? A-arms? What should I be looking? I not afraid of paying a little bit more for better coils or springs? Panhards? upper control arms? Lower control arms? I´m new at this so please be nice? Is there AHC one the 4,2TD and do I need to change the air bags to other or springs and coils instead of air-bags? It´s a lot of question i hope some of you can help me with.

3) Can anyone recommend me a good tire size and brand for tires?

Where are you located? I assume (and we know that saying) it isnt in the US based on the info you provided thus far. But here is what I can say so far:
Lift: 2-2,5"
ARB front bar with Warn winch.
ARB rear bar with spare tire and ladder.
Diff drop kit do I need it?
31-33" tires
ARB front locker
ARB rear locker
Extreme Valve Body
Rock sliders

A lot of good things have been said about the 5 speed. I have the 4 speed. If I were looking today it wouldnt really make a difference to me. A clean rig with good maint. records would be priority.

Opinions will differ here. But more info about your plans and goals will help with advice. I personally say get the truck and run it as is. When you cant do something you want fix it (I.e. mods). Panhards are available. But, you will find not really needed for the limited lift we have available. UCA's can be done if you want. But may not be needed for your goals. LCA's-Front or rear? Fronts are pretty bomb proof. Rears will eventually need to be replaced. Wait until you bend one or you have enough miles on the truck to do a refresh and then replace with one of many availble options.

For 90% of users a lift like the OME kits will fit the bill. Others like me may go more extreme with higher end shocks, timbren bump stops, spacers, TC UCA's, etc. But I ran one of the Slee medium lifts for years with zero complaints.

3) Can anyone recommend me a good tire size and brand for tires? this is another you wont get a straight answer on. Need more details about your plans and goals with the truck. I have run the BFG AT in a 295/75R/16's for years now with no complaints until I started running Remote res shocks in the front with the TC UCA's. My next tire will be a 35" tire. Probably the GooD Year MTR Kevlars in the 285 width. But tons of threads on tires here to keep you busy for a while. Sit back search and make a decision on what you read and need.

Good luck!

The front LCA on the 100s with the 4.2 diesel are not bomb proof. With the extra weight of the diesel, they have actually been known to crack at the torsion bar mount. Ironman's suspension include a LCA reinforcing bracket with their suspension lifts to help prevent this. First read about in this thread. It definitely seems to be more of an issue with the diesels than the 2UZ.

You dont need a diffdrop kit for 2-2,5" lift, but it will save you some trouble down the road from leaking cv joints.

1) On the 4.2TD 5speed transmission is better. -Less problems and considerably lower fuel consumption.

2) AHC is easy to swap for conventional suspension. If you plan on doing a lot of hard driving on rough surfaces you should consider strenghtening the lower front wishbones where it meets the torsion bar.

3) 285/75R16 or 295/75R16

Good point. I forgot about that since the 4.2 isnt an option for us. But yeah, the OZ folks have talked about them cracking....

Thanks for the fast replays. I think I will go with the diff drop kit.

Is there anyone more who can recommend me suspension lift kit???
Ironman looked interesting. I was thinking of a OME kit but can consider other ones. I´m going to buy entire suspension kit.

I also going to re-enforce the lower arms so they don´t crack. Can anyone recommend my good kits for this?

I have read a lot of tire reviews about sort and size and will go with 33" tire.

Can anyone recommend me some good winch?

After reading even more threads about bumpers and sliders so maybe I should go with another ones then the ARB. I still want one that works with the LC100:s airbags.

I´m really new at this and read a lot for the moment. It would be very helpfull with links to reliable companies for suspension kit or off road products to the LC100. I live in Scandinavia in the little country Sweden and it is much easier to ship products from US then it is from Australia.

The LC100 are going to be used for 60% road and 40% off road. The climate here is from 27 degrees celsius to -20 degrees with lot of snow. It will be a tourer with two K9 cages and drawers in the back.

The OME full suspension is pretty decent. I am running OME torsion bars and rear coils with Radflo 2.5" shocks. Far better than OME shocks, but also far more expensive.

Ironman sells the reinforcing brackets for the LCA.

OME and ironman have suspension kits which look interestning. Is there more australien brands? I also consider bilstein suspension parts?
I going to buy the 2002- LC100 with the 5 speed automatic transmission.

Can anyone tell me some good bumpers?

Both OME and ironman are good and affordable kits. -And both have retailers in scandinavia.

I didn´t know that. I been looking at a LC100 Silver with 250000 Km on the trip.
They want 26 000 US dollar for it. It´s a LC100 4,2 TD 2005 full served with book. Not lifted and one owner.

Thanks for the fast replys. I think I will go with the diff drop kit.

We sell four options for the LC100 in order of complexity:

*First is the TJM torsion bar and rear coil lift.
*Second This can be than upgraded to the Radflo shock system and Total Chaos upper UCA's. We have a LX470 with exactly this setup, and will be building a Ih8mud build thread for it soon (check for update).
*Third, we have IFS suspension lifts which replace almost all of the factory components and include a complete lowering carrier for the front suspension components. These lifts are available in 4, 6, 8, and 14 inches of lift.
This suspension system keeps the Diesel version in mind.
Fourth, we will soon be offering a SAS conversion kit for the IFS LC100. Your IFS goes away completely:) This will be available in late spring time.

I also going to re-enforce the lower arms so they don´t crack. Can anyone recommend my good kits for this?

(See kits above)

I have read a lot of tire reviews about sort and size and will go with 33" tire.

Can anyone recommend me some good winch? We sell the TJM Stealth Winch.

After reading even more threads about bumpers and sliders so maybe I should go with another ones then the ARB. I still want one that works with the LC100:s airbags. The 2011 TJM T13 is airbag compliant.

If you want, we can supply you with the LC100 Arctic flare kit to run 38" tires- Great in the snow!

Been looking and thinking for a while now what I want with the LC100 and come to some decisions:
Lift: 2-2,5" : Will go with OME or King shock/spring or King shocks bilstein springs
ARB front bar with Warn winch.
ARB rear bar with spare tire and ladder: Probably Slee rear bumper
Diff drop kit do I need it? Slee drop kit
31-33" tires: Will go with TOYO´s open country M/T. They look great on Nate´s car and I will go with 33"
ARB front locker. Will perhaps only go with front or rear first.
ARB rear locker
Extreme Valve Body: Don´t think I want to have a automatic without this upgrade
Rock slider: Slee rock sliders
Steering dampner: kings
Brackets for lower arms: slew

Been reading and looking for some suspension kits and one that looks pretty good are justdifferentials Super deluxe suspension kit with diff drop and upper arms. I'm going to take a closer look at it. I been looking at ironman suspension and pro lockers but I can't find enough reviews and good opinions that CSN pursuade me to to with them. OME, kings, bilstein with others have good reviews and I feel that I rather pay some extra money some wellrecognized and proved reliable. Ironman have good bumpers.

The JustDifferentials kit is awesome. I have it but paid a lot more because I purchased most of the components at separate times and through different vendors. If I could do it all over again, I would have just purchased it all together at a considerable discount.
