Hello,

I am wondering why my Ipod tape deck adapter doesn't work in my 2000 100 series. It plays cassetes just fine. When I put the adapter in it just seems to be searching and then ejects.

I did put it in and out several times and had it play for just a second then ejected again. This tape adapter works great in my truck and 80 series.

Anyone else have this problem? My Cd player will not load and appears to be blocked from loading by a peice of the unit. Wouldn't care but I'm about to go on a long trip and don't know what to do about listening to my books on the Ipod.

I really don't want to go and buy the adapter that plays through a radio station as they get bad reviews.

Any help appreciated.

Try a different brand adapter, I have two diferent ones, one works the other does not. Don't have paperwork on them so can't tell what brand they are anymore.

cheap cassette adapters tend not to function properly, especially when cold. I used to have one and had to warm up the metal contact in the middle of the cassette for it to work (breathing on it or heater). Got tired of doing this so I just bought a more expensive one and works hot or cold.

Try changing the tape direction, as if you are playing the other side of a cassette. That has worked for me before, or pick up a new adapter. Anthony is correct though, cheap adapters suck and good ones will last. I have a 15+ year old Sony adapter that works great still, but a far more recent Monster unit fell apart. The auto parts store or Kmart brands are really really bad.

my 2000 does the same thing. It needed a sony to work. My lexus gs430 works will all three adapters.

Thanks for the replies. I have another brand adaptor somewhere that has a short and will see if it works. Will go and look for a Sony brand.

Thanks again.

My tape deck started switching between the a and b side of tape, so I would get a pause. It has since fixed itself. I just bought the xm radio ipod dock for 60 dollars. It is cheaper than a regular dock and I get an xm radio out of it. I priced a new radio for my 98 land cruiser and it was around 600 dollars. Get the xm today will post how it works out.

Old thread but my adapter used to do this too. I lubricated the moving parts in the adapter and that fixed it. Just sprayed some WD-40 on it. The gears had too much resistance so the tape player thought it was out of tape and would eject it to be flipped over.
