Need some help deciding what to do about the engine bay before I stick the V8 in. Should I go all out and order some red Durabak so it matches the body but is still durable? Or should I just rattle can it black? Or do you reccomend some other kind of coating either in a bomb can or a roll on?

The Durabak is $140 plus shipping if I can get by with 1 Gallon, the rattle can is obviously under $20. The prep may be too intense for the Durabak, so maybe POR-15 might be a good option as well.

The body and the engine just look too nice to stick it in a crappy engine bay.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Well being impatient as I am, I went ahead and ordered something. I found some stuff called Zero Rust. The cool thing about it is that it takes very little prep and comes in rattle cans. For $85 shipped I got 6 cans of safety red, 2 cans of black, and a bottle of there prep solution they reccomend. I will let you guys know how it turns out. I haven't seen anybody use this stuff on here yet. There may be a reason why, I guess I will find out.

Zero Rust is pretty good stuff.

I've used POR15 and love it. It is hard as dookie (well hard dookie) and sticks very well as long as you do the prep which is several steps.

Marshall has used RustBullet and I think he likes it so far - much less prep.

IIRC you can get Zero Rust in spray cans - is that what you got?

Yes, I ordered spray cans. They have a Safety Red color that will hopefully be close to my Freeborn Red. Figured it would look better than just black.

There is nothing wrong with raddle cans - I raddle canned my entire Pig!

...and then the wife and I were watching Family Guy that night and Peter was spray painting his truck...she laughed at me sooo hard.
