Hi, was hoping someone out there has had this problem. i have 2 sets of twins (4 kids) and need to put some baby seats in the 3rd row of seats. The kids that will be sitting back there are now 3 and still need to have there child seats restrained with a teather point or child restraint point. The problem i have is that i can not find any anchor points back there. Does anyone know where and if there are and if not how to install some or the limitations of instalation.

;p:doh:

There are no LATCH point in the third row, you'll have to use the seat belts as attachment points.

There are also cargo tie downs in the back that you could use for the third Tether (over the back of the seat), they woudl be at an angle but should keep the seat in better. Just the seatbelt just does not do it. (or attach the third tehter to the hardware under the seat, you will likely need to get a bit creative w/ this.

Contact your local Fire-Ambulance service and see if they offer Child safety seat installation. They do in Reno. Theres a lot more to in than hooking it to your seatbelt. A properly installed safety seat should just about move the whole vehicle when you try to move the seat side to side (When we do our installs about 95% of seats that we we see are not installed properly). It's free and its your kids we're talking about.

Yeah, use the D-rings in the rear corners. Besides, they're likely stronger than the 3 anchors behind the 2nd row. Worse comes to worse, you could always go to a marine store and get a stainless padeye and drill holes and thru-bolt if you need to use a child seat in the center 3rd row.

If you pass the tether through the headrest and then to the d-rings you should be more than adequate. The down pressure will be the same. On the other hand, you could easily put hooks in the edge of the headliner near the hatch.

hey there i use the d ring also plus my car seat has those extra attachments that go into the seat; i think its overkill using all of them but always better to be safe then sorry. by the way my top belt did not reach the d rings so i had to get an extension babies r us or something like that shoud have them let me know if you need pictures

This is true that most police and fire forces will assist you, but in my opinion it is overkill. Most of the protection in the seat is in the structure and straps of the seat. Once these guys attach your seat to the limits of the strength of the seatbelts, you will not be able to either remove the seat, or replace it if you did remove it:rolleyes:.

Why doesn't Toyota offer an integrated child seat in the LC. I have one in my van and it is great, and never in the way.

In all the car seats I have owned, they all say that up to a 1" movement either forward/back, or side to side is within the limits. Its easily done by kneeling in the car seat (with one knee) while tightening the seat down.

If done properly, unfortunately it will stretch out the leather. This is somewhat alleviated by using one of the car seat matts, or a towel.

Using the back anchors, I was able to secure a carseat very tight, however, you will have to remove the the headrest.

I can't wait until I am done with car seats, though, with my kids, i'm pretty sure that my oldest will still be sitting in a booster when I am teaching her to drive.

The standards are unreasonable, and why don't the car manufacturers make seats and seatbelt systems to meet the standards? I know many adults that "should" be in booster seats (some because of maturity, not size;)).

hey i thought the lc and the lx have the same seats? my lx has the integrtd seat things and my old 99 had them also. I know some of you migt laugh at this but this is one of the biggest reasons i got the truck many many suv's do not have those attachments and if they do it is on either side so you lose a seat. i have a car seat in the middle so i can have 4 adults seated with out taking the seat in and out as for the 3rd row i use my back section alot i dont put the seat down unless its a special trip with extra people. When i went to the car show this past winter i was really surprised how many manufctr do not use the integrated seat thing

Kinda off the subject,

My ex rolled my old 80 at 70 MPH with my little girl in the second seat in a car seat and shoulder belt. The eighty was totaled (I now have a 100) nobody was hurt by the grace of god and toyota engineering.

The shoulder belts work great for child restraits with the proper car seat.

by the way... I got rid of the crazy bitch and got custody of my little girl and the 100. Both are doing great.

Warren

Make sure your second row seats still latch properly and do not interfere with the child seat if you put it in the third row.

The fold down car seat is not a car seat or booster, its just an arm rest. Can anyone else confirm this?

I use the "Mighty tite" works like a charm in all of my cars.

On an '01 LC, there are LATCH anchors in the second row of seats for the middle and driver's side positions only. The position behind the passenger seat is a "seat belt install" only. The 3rd row seats are seat belt install only for child seats.

Yes, in the second row, middle seat, the thing that flips down is an arm rest. If someone were to sit there with the arm rest down, it would be most uncomfortable on your back.
