So I'm on my 3rd windshield (orig+2 replacements). The original took a rock and spiderwebbed. It happens. It's the two replacements that are giving me fits.

The place that installed the non-OEM glass is well-reviewed and did what looks like a good job. However, rather quickly the first replacement cracked at the bottom edge in the middle and started working its way up. The installer couldn't tell me why it happened, but it was definitely an issue with the glass. He replaced it free of charge and even though it took a little longer the same thing happened. The crack is now from top to bottom right through the middle of the glass. Again, the installer is nice, does a quick job, and seems to know what he's doing, but I'm hesitant to go back to him since this has happened twice.

Any ideas? I'm thinking of finding another installer and insisting on OEM glass, but holy crap is that expensive (especially once you pay to have the sensors aligned).

Call high end dealerships in your area and see if there is a consensus on who they use. Call them and use only OEM glass.

Probably not the installer, but his glass supplier. Go somewhere else to get OEM or Pilkington. There's several threads about the pros and cons of each, pilkington's been fine for me.

Ask the installer if he used spacers? My understanding is that is how it comes from the factory in order to get the glass aligned properly with the surrounding rubber gasket? Some installers don't use them because they say the windshield will crack in the after-market installation. I'm wondering what your guy did?
