2000 lc with 161k.
At 156k I had the Toyota dealer do everything under the t-belt cover.
It's been 8 months and 5k later. The last week I've heard a squeal in the bay.
Went to take a peek today and found the milkshake oil cap.
Antifreeze and trans fluid levels are clean and normal.
I have driven through some large puddles lately but the air filter is dry.
Im having a hard time imagining any tbelt service related issues.
Any ideas?
Truck is well serviced so I can't imagine a bhg???

thanks, just saw that. although my mocha coating is much thicker in the cap and I do have water on the stick. the oil level is also low on the stick which is a first for my truck.
still a bit confused though that at a glance there is no other fluid mixing anywhere, no smoke, no cel, nada. just low oil with clear water. doesn't even smell like anything.
I've dropped it at the dealer that did the t-belt. so ill try to make sure the do the leak-down as opposed to just a compression.
moister build up is an interesting idea. I daily the truck about 1.5mi each way, but wouldn't explain the oil loss...I think.

thanks

What do mean by clear water? I'm hoping for the best for you. Let us know what the dealer says.

How's the PCV system? and if you're only running 1.5m each way daily the engine is probably never up to full operating temp for any sustained time so moisture has little chance of being vaporized out of the oil and collects on colder surfaces you can see like the bottom of the oil cap. I reckon a good highway run couldn't hurt at all and just might clear things up.

-I know it sounds a bit stupid, but I would expect some type of red coloration if it was really a bhg. like I said the water on the stick is perfectly clear with no odor of any type.

-haven't checked the valve in maybe a year or so. but I did replace it last time I checked it. not aware of any other way to check the entire system.

-again thanks guys. I go into panic mode when I see an issue with the cruiser. like a lot of people I can turn a wrench but my major diagnostic skills are lacking. I've always been scared of doing major work on the lc myself.

-I'm really expecting some type of mystifying results from the dealer, or "yep its the head gasket" and then no reason for it other than the water. seems like even the local dealers don't see enough of these trucks. I have yet to find a shop in the seattle area I trust with it, but at least if its a dealer everything has a warranty and they use Toyota parts.

-if I get mystifying results from them I think ill just have them do an oil change and keep a close eye on it. make sure everything gets to full operating temp. might take 1-2 changes to clear up?

-thanks

so just for the curious.

-dealer called and said the truck was done and fine...said they both pressure and compression tests and everything looked normal. so I didn't bother with asking about the leak down test. I had them change the oil. I'm going to start warming the truck up longer and keep an eye on the oil condition.
-considering having a remote start put in.

-on a side note they did diagnose that it is my drive (serpentine) belt tensioner making a nice new squeal. wanted $580 installed. I asked how much for the part...$98. I had em put it on the front seat for me. I can handle that one.

-thanks for the advice, ill update if anything crazy happens.

Yeah. I'm thinking if the moisture is clear, then it's probably condensation.

On another note, could you possibly post a sound clip or youtube of your whine? This would make my day.

The same thing happened to me - I was moving from the very cloudy Seattle area to S California, and when I checked the oil in Oregon - water in the oil. It was 3 days to Christmas and a local mechanic said "just drive it down - it should last." I changed the oil 5 times in the next 700 miles - cleaned that old 302 v8 ford engine clean clean clean! It was condensation that had boiled out of the oil during the long hot ride from WA to the California border. Never had another problem - drove it 30,000 more miles and sold it with a clear conscious and a clear oil pan.

; )
