Hey guys. I 've been shopping around for LC with the option package. So far best I can get are the following;

08 MSRP $73K $63K
09 MSRP $73K $65K

How does it compare with what you guys paid? Local dealer also has a used one with 2000 miles on it for $60K

TIA for all your input.

I have no clue about prices. But if you are already going to spend 63K for a Cruiser why not spend 2K more for the 2009 model?

If the best price difference I can get at the end is $2000 I will probably go for the 09. I'm hoping I can do much better than that though.

the '08 price is what i paid. agree that you should go for the '09...the drive line issue will be taken care of, the windows are already tinted, and the resale will be better. either way, get one: it is the best engineered vehicle i've ever driven and (IMO) you will not be sorry.

"a used one with 2000 miles on it for $60K"

I would not hesitate to go for the used one if a few $K matter, you may be able to get if for a good deal better, as long as it hasn't been abused, and has all the maintenance work done.

Update

Used one with 2000 miles is gone now. But they offered me to get their 'new' 08 for the same price of 60K
or new 09 for $64500

I don't care about tinted windows but what's the issue with drive line?

re: driveline

this has several posts already in this forum, but i guess i can sum it up.

people started to notice a clunk from their drive line when they first get going from a stop. a technical service bulletin has been put out by toyota regarding this. it would appear that the drive lines were installed without grease (i put an entire tube in my front and rear before any started coming out the seals.) if you can demonstrate a clunk on your '08, toyota will apparently replace it. by '09, i would guess they started greasing the drivelines before they left the factory.

If they have a "new" '08 sitting on the ground, be sure they need to unload that puppy as fast as they can...there has got to be more wiggle room, offer $57,500 and see if they take it.

Hi, new here! Good time to chime in...

For what it's worth, we got a 2009 with option package (can you even find them without that?) for around $65k on February 3. Out the door with Maryland taxes and fees was $69,341. Since then, local prices for the 2009s haven't changed much.

Toyota only sold something like 150 cruisers/month country-wide in 2008, my local dealers said they won't get many 2009s and didn't anticipate any trouble selling the ones they got. I've yet to see another one on the road around here, so it might be a regional thing. Back in February, almost all the 2009s here were black. We had to look around to find a silver one (and paid a bit more for it).

We weren't shopping 2008s, not sure how pricing was for them.

Based on a friend in the business you should be able to knock $15K off the 2008 and the dealer should be happy to move it. Most of these in my area sit on the lot for 6++ months and the dealers advertise any reasonable offer accepted. If it listed for $72 offer $57K and tell them to call you if they want to sell.

They did call. Told me the new price was $56500 for the new 08 and I picked it up on thursday. Now I just gotta get those windiws tinted. Thanks for all your help.

Just for frame-of-reference, my brother just picked up a 2008 Certified Used for $54k w/17k on the clock. The dealer had it listed for $56.5k but Toyota's Certified website had it listed at $54k and the dealer had to honor that price. It's a one owner vehicle and the original sticker was $73k. In service date for the truck was 04/08. $19k in depreciation in one year! He's pretty pleased that he bought used.

Definitely some deals to be had on used 200's right now.

both used and new 08's continue to come down in price. on autotrader there are a couple low mileage 08's below 50k now and some new 08's are listed at 60k, and that's with the upgrade package.

seems like a deal vs. the 09's considering the driveline issue is under warranty.

any other serious bugs that i'm missing and has anyone paid substantially less than 60k for a new 08?

I paid $53,400(2008) with 9900 miles on it. Silver with gray leather and fully loaded. Now I am concerned about the driveline issue.:hhmm: I don't know if it was fixed before I bought it or should I have toyota look at it?:steer: By the way, mine came with stock tinted windows. Do you mean dark tint being added to the 09's?
