Hey guys, anyone want to help me extract a broken bolt? I can provide a 12er of your favorite beverage. It is the lower shock mount bolt on my 80.

Shouldn't be that bad but I am really sick of this thing. I heated, PB blasted, heated PB blasted.....and it still broke.

Then I heated, sprayed w/ cutting oil and started drilling with a 1/8" drill bit nice and slow. While drilling I kept spraying with oil.......broke the bit in there.

Relax, breath in , breath out. Turn the 12 pack into a 10 pack if necessary.
It looks like you got off center with the drill bit. Take a center punch and start with that to get yourself centered up. If you can go with a slightly larger bit and I've had better luck with a low speed drill. Also a new bit is nice to start with. If you have to, drill it out and retap for a new bolt. I know you said that you kept the bit oiled, but you may want to have a friend keep oil on the bit to keep it cool while you drill. Just some suggestions.

Good Luck

What Tom said and try welding a nut onto it.

Put a brass washer on the broken part and then put a regular, mild steel nut onto the washer. Weld throught nut, past the washer and into the broken bolt.

Heat up again.

Try to back it out.

Phosphoric acid? or a coke? if you dip it in a cup (not sure how you would do that) it would probably eat through the rust. yOu might have to clean up the oil first.

I had success with stuck parts on my mini truck (e-brake lever). it loosened up pretty good.
