Regarding a LC as a daily driver.
I drive my 1999 to work (1.1 miles from home - I'm lazy huh!), and around town, and on trips where I love the comfort when going on freeways and yet I can dive off any dirt road with confidence. But when going at freeway speeds, I believe the land cruiser gives a feeling of safety that is not necessarily realized in the real world - and therefore can create problems.
Positives: Strong, big, heavy.
Negatives: top heavy - even if unloaded. If going at freeway speeds you are more likely to drive through any sudden problem than you are to drive around it. I would want my wife (or any other driver) to understand this). If your daily drive is going 50+ MPH for the majority of the drive - you are likely to be safer in a large sedan that can reasonably avoid road hazards than you are in one of these.
If, however, you are poking around town at lower speeds, and have in mind the limitations should trouble arrive, then you are good to go!
There are no magic vehicles that can do all things better than all other vehicles. The land cruiser is a miracle that it can do so well in so many.
(BTW, I love the little paragraph in my operation manual where the author - with a somewhat irritated voice, tells the reader that it is not a sports car, but a sports car can not go on the roads the LC can. Seldom do you get a bit of personality showing through in a technical manual!)
