What is it that you want to know? Are you just interested in verifying the VIN, or are you interested in maintenance records and accident history?

Toyota owners site will give you the maintenance history, at dealerships, unless it's a Lexus. Carfax will give you some accident history, as long as it's been reported and maybe not even then.

Thanks for taking the time, Malleus. I'd like to know if this particular Lexus has an accident or fleet use history, how many owners before being shipped out of the USA, verified mileage if possible, etc. Perhaps most important is maintenance history and date of US title termination before shipping abroad. Most obliged:)

Well, if it was a Land Cruiser, you could get that. I've been looking for that info for my LX570 for years and haven't found it yet.

Toyota seems more free with their data than Lexus.

Maybe some kind soul will help us both.

I'm surprised the Lexus owner's site doesn't provide basic U.S. Lexus dealer service history like the Toyota site (if you create an account and enter the VIN)?

If you have access to Carfax and pay for a VIN check ($40 USD), you may be able to get some sale or accident information that’s been reported against the VIN. It should have at least the original import, sale, and manufacture date, if it was a USA import. There are only 7 records for the vehicle, so there is not much there, considering it’s 7 years old.

I am somewhat confused because the seller claims 52 000 km (approx. 32k mi) on the ODO of this 7 years old Lexus LX570, whereas the free VIN check site says 81 000 km.

Sorry only two entries per Lexus..

It was shipped out of the U.S. when it was new. It was never registered in the states per my records.

For future reference The Lexus and Toyota driver / owner sites both allow Vin entry and will then share out dealer service records. The two, sites also can share a login. They don’t crossover records, so Toyota work on a Lexus is not reported, so CARFAX may have more total services on it.

Toyota’s site is a bit more controlled, register too many vins and they appear to put you on timeout for a day. I used both extensively in my recent 200 search.

Thank you so much for sharing. I intend to do a 200 search in the USA used market since gasoline 200's are very rare in Europe and I don't like diesels, which are abundant over here. May I contact you via pm for some more info?

PM. Or anyone else willing to help me out in my hunt for a clean , perfectly maintained low mileage 2008-2011. LX preferred to LC. Thanks in advance.

I think @Sandroad has a good idea here. I had a hard time finding a 'regular' buyer that would go through escrow, probably more likely that a mud member would be ok with the additional paperwork and time. I think it is a big challenge, in general. I also saw though an auction/finder's service that worked only for export when I was looking. Let me see if I can find it again:

There may be others . . .
