Hi everyone,

I recently installed a Carobtor unit on my 2015 5.7L LC200. The setup went smoothly at first, but I ran into a problem when trying to activate it. Here’s what’s going on:

  1. Activation Code Issue:
    • When prompted to enter the activation code, I couldn’t select the option using the steering wheel buttons (e.g., +, -, or the home button).
    • The buttons didn’t respond at all.
    • I pressed the display button instead, and it showed a message saying “Complete activation code.” But I never actually got to enter the code.
  2. Display Parameters Issue:
    • After connecting the unit, the only parameters visible on the Carobtor display are the fuel gauge, coolant temperature, and oil level.
    • I was expecting a more comprehensive set of metrics, but it seems limited.
I’ve checked the manual, searched online, and even reached out to Carobtor support (still waiting for a reply). Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a guide or clear instructions to address these issues.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with their Carobtor unit? If so, how did you resolve it? Are there any specific steps I might be missing, or could this be a compatibility issue with the LC200?

Any advice, tips, or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Shabib

DId you see this install video?

Haven't seen many posts of people actually installing one of these.

There is a CAN BUS adapter in the video that he plugged in. That's how the steering wheel controls would work most likely. Did you plug that in correctly?

Thank you for your response!

I actually came across the video on YouTube, but as per the video, it features the newer model of the LC200 (2016–2020) which has a different steering wheel cluster selection. My car is a 2015 model, so it falls under the 2008–2015 range, which has a similar cluster design. As you can see in the steering wheel picture I shared above, the only control available for the cluster is the display button.

I did connect the CAN BUS adapter, and since the plugs are uniquely sized, there isn’t much room for error in connecting them. However, I’ll double-check and try reconnecting it just to be sure.

I’ll also take a video of the issue for clarity, as Carobtor finally replied to me on Instagram and requested a video of the problem.

It’s true that there aren’t many posts about people actually installing one of these on 2008 to 2015, so I really appreciate your comments and help. I’ll keep you updated!

Thanks again!
