hey guys...was out wheeling today and found a hole at a little to much speed, Ju8mped the cruiser and bust a front driverside spring. Need the top 3 leaves. None of them actually broke but the second one got caught in the mud and was peeled back around underneath until it bent the 3rd leaf and the top one too. I could really use some help finding a set of front springs. My cruiser is an 81 BJ42. I think once I get them I'll go to a reversal or spring over to avoid this in the furture. Ideally I would like to fond one in Canada and ship it from wherever. What other cruisers springs will fit. I assume any of the BJ series but what about the FJ's???

Thanks,
Tyler

When that happened to me it was a good time to get a lift kit. Any BJ and FJ spring from the equivalent chassis platform should work. There is a difference between some years but I don't know what years those are.

I hope this week to get my parabolics on my 83, then I'll have the full set of stockers left over. But I'm in California.

I agree with cruiser guy--think about a new set of springs cuz if these are the originals, they've got to be tired. But that's $$$. Wayne or somebody has got to have a parts truck laying around.

I agree, I know it is costly but for the price you will spend for a few leafs, why not a lift kit.

Ask around in your area someone might do custom leaf spring work, I know there is a place here in london ontario that does it.

cheers
Eric

Where are you??

I have a set of both top springs that are freshly painted and an assortment of others to choose from off of 40 series trucks

I'm in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. I may look into a lift kit but the unit is also a daily driver for me so I would like to get it on the road asap. I have other means of transport but I really want my cruiser back. I know the leaves are tired. The side that isn't bent is doing the reverse arch. I'm hoping to buy a used set to get me on track. I think there is a custom spring place in town to so I'll go check with them tommorow.

Keep the suggestions coming though,

Dude, I'm in saskatoon. I could have the springs to you this week some time.

I'd say a case of beer would be perfect!!

I am sure I have a complete set or you can just have the one side. I will check for you tomorrow.

sound good?

That sounds amazing. I'll for sure get you on that case. If you have a set that will fit we could get them sent down on the bus. Let me know...

You will certainly want to do both sides as whatever used springs you install have had a life different from the springs currently on your truck. Doing one side only may cause weird handling.

Lift kit is about the double price... non-install VS stock spring.

Some know my last week problem (... see my post).

Just for your information, here what I have for 700$

2 news rear stock spring (u-bolt) (the spring was 180$ each... not install) + 1 more leaf on each front corner (u-bolt) + work installation.

HTH you for your choise for your Cruiser... and look all around before buying you spring... and don't forget, the price of a lift kit is a lift kit.... IN THE BOX... don't forget to figure that !

While I agree with David to a point. With my truck when the spring snapped the cost to install an "Add a Leaf" and repair the busted leaf was almost as much as the lift and the benefit of the lift is that you have all new springs. When you repair them, you still have 20 year old springs.
