I ended up driving a 2005 Saab 9-2x home from Colorado Springs on Monday. Man that sucked.

The 9-2x is a rebadged Subaru Impreza/WRX wagon. Mine is non turbo. GM made this happen in 2005 and 2006 only when they owned parts of both companies.

Clean, 2 owner car. Completely stock. $4k with 154k and a leaky valve cover gasket getting fixed and tuned up this weekend. The 5 speed makes it fun to drive.

And no, I wouldn't buy a REAL Saab expecting lower maintenance and operating costs! Who do you think I am a Land Rover owner?

Wow sounds a good buy. Being non turbo would that make it more of an outback sport? Do they redo the interior also or is it very subaru?
I can't decide if I want to put up with a manual or not. I got rid of a truck a few years ago part of the reason was stick in traffic. Of course that was a diesel truck. You have to shift a lot more. Counted over 100 shift to go 10 miles one day. Most of those highway stop and go which sucks

I guess it would be like an Outback Sport, but really it's a straight Impreza 2.5RS wagon. It's pure Subaru inside except for the seats. Saab have them two tone black and white, but still feel the same.

I don't deal with traffic much on a daily basis, but even if I did I'd still prefer a stick. I guess I'm a die-hard manual guy. My wife will also drive this down to Westport a couple times a week during off peak traffic times. She's really getting the hang of driving and has done a 180 in regards to how she feels about it. On Wednesday she hated it. Today she loves it.

My 60 with the 3B turbo diesel and 4 speed is being retired as my daily driver, so almost anything will be a luxury in comparison.

BTW the valve cover gaskets were fine, it's the head gaskets that are leaking. I'll be getting to know this engine intimately very soon.

So you drive it all the way back from CO with out overheating issues? Has any of the subaru head gausket conditioner been used? (Bars stopleak) that was the factory fix for those common problems to get them out of warranty and out of there hands. My buddy is on his second treatment in 3 or 4 years but it's original and 180k. Keeps on going.
