Help me find a Cruiser in Portland OR

Hey folks, I'm in the land of high priced SUV's. I'm looking for a 2000+ Landcruiser, after posting about it last year I'm finally getting around to it.

However, pricing in the Pacific NW is ridiculously high ti seems. I would like to stay around 21k or less, preferably much less. Everyone at the dealerships seems to want 25k plus. I kinda need to buy it through a dealership, since I got pre-approved with my loan that way, however I can probably have it switched to a private party deal without too much of a hassle. Anyhow, need to find the truck though!

I'll take an LX470 if need be, but I prefer the more simple styling of the cruiser.

Just keep an eye on craigs list EVERY day and night - I got a 2003 12 months ago with 55K miles for 27K. It was from a private "wholesaler" who didn't really understand the NW market since every 2003 on a dealer lot was asking at 36K and selling around 33K. I'd keep an eye on both Seattle and Portand Craigslist and BE PATIENT.... it took me 9 months to find "THE ONE" but when I did I drove over to see it within 30 minutes and made him an offer on the spot since these deals will go FAST. Meaning - have your money lined up and ready to go AHEAD of time.

The other option is eBay in some area where a 100 isn't as highly valued, a bit scary unless there is another Mud member willing to check it out but there is always that option.

You can also try PM'ing gnx7 on here. He is a wholesaler in San Francisco and has been getting a few LC's lately.

2 to look at right now, make sure they have the 90K timing belt maint. done - if not ask for another $500-1K off. However, the 2003 is often considered the "sweet spot" so if you can wait 6+ months, or find a deal you "might" be able to get to about $25K - if you can find a deal. The '03 has the refreshed interior (dash, gauge cluster) 5 speed (NICE!) and 18" wheels....

Carfax will not only provide detailed info on a specific vehicle, they will also provide a list of vehicles for sale nationwide with the lowest price that vehicle has ever been offered. We found this quite valuable when searching in October. I love the information age! Make sure you get the correct amount and types of keys as replacement can run over $500 for a spare.
