Mine was repaired for rust on rear panels before I bought it.
It has 350.000km on dash now (if its real?) and everything runs relatively well on it.
I use it as a dd since I have no other car now.
coil springs seem to give a smoother ride. The most praised suspension upgrade seems to be dobinsons , second best OME.
As a dd, you must realize that car will never go too fast, or u risk killing the engine.
Having said that, I put 33000km in one year on it, but…..I cruise around 90km/h, rarely push it into 100km/h range.
That translates to 2200rpm-2600rpm. wheels 31".
If you go and look at the truck, try to look at the sills beind the doors, then try to inspect the rear panels. U can look at them by removing the side panels or use an endoscope.
On the right side, where the fuel pipe is, theres a shield to protect the pipe from the wheel spash. that area gets rusty under the shield
If you unscrew the carpet holder at the rear doors, you can inspect for rust on the inner rear arches.
Windshield frame is prone to rust too.
Again, as long as you think the engine is ok for you and you are lucky to see a well kept truck, go for it.
That engine can be swapped for 3l engine and v8 lexus ones easier than other engines.
I never seen that exhaust on any land cruiser I looked at in Europe, but hey…
If you buy it, then ih8mud is a fantastic source of advice and surely people are willing to help to fix the bugs.
from my experience with the 2lt engine, I would not even test the truck on a long drive without
checking
1-glowplugs
2-radiator cap
3-thermostat
4-fanclutch -that would include checking how much silicone oil is in it
5-radiator performance
I found issues with all these over a year and they are easy fix if you are aware.
best of luck!
