So I finally got back into an LC200 (long story) when I recently bought another 2008, this one with 120,000 miles. Runs fine, but twice now, at start up, the diff lock light was flashing. I didn't pay much attention the first time since I thought someone must have bumped the switch, and it stopped after I played with it a bit. The second time, however, no one had played with it and I was unable to get it to stop flashing during a short drive (when it acted totally normal). Of course, the light quit flashing during the drive back to CarMax and they said there is no error code in the computer.

I really need your guys help before this thing is out of its 30 day warranty. What the heck could be going on?

Somewhat common... there was discussion of it a few times, not sure if it was a separate thread. Has happened to me 3 times over the 4 years I've owned my 08, last time was over a year ago. Restart always cleared it. Never saw that there was a "fix" to it though.

Thanx guys. As usual, this forum is far more helpful than the dealer.

I have had this problem several times since I purchased my 200 this year. It seems to happen more often when the ambient temps are colder. Last time it happened for me, I was up camping. I allowed the engine to warm up and then restarted it. The flashing indication went away and stayed away, which was good since we were out 4-wheeling and I wanted to be able to shift it to 4-low, which it would not when flashing. I still have not found a permanent fix.

Loose CDL electrical connection on transfer case or knock sensor plug on Gear box. Both reported here and elsewhere more than once. Both plugs can become loose or get fouled. Someone also reported an issue with a parking or reversing light bulb (or fuse) causing similar symptoms. It won't be a mechanical fault. Just electrical intermittent fault. And it will be simple. The most frustrating type. Good luck.

A friend sent me the attached pdf file to help troubleshoot, so i thought I would post it as well. If anyone has time to look directly at the electrical connections and get some pics to help locate them, I would appreciate you posting them up.

Thanks,
Jonathan
