Is Pete gonna rock your ceiling or was he too much money?
I have a Brittany and he is great. Lots of energy. He doesn't like to be left alone at all. They are great dogs but will "explore" if they decide to. They will bark at strangers but are really not much of a protector. He is an awesome bird dog too.
I also have a Mountain View Cur. Kind of an odd breed. They are coon dogs. Smartest dog I have ever seen. He is super friendly but can get angry if he needs to. Bark is loud. Inside he acts like a cat but outside he is crazy. Loves fetching, but is not much of a swimmer.

Too much.
I found a couple local guys (licensed, bonded, insured) and labor rates up here are much less, at least according to them. They didn't have anything going this week so they bid it cheap. They started the morning after I called them and said do it. I'll be painting this weekend.

I figured that might be the case. he has been giving me good deals as a friend but I know he does not work cheap otherwise.

I am helping to babysit 2 mastiffs right now, one full grown, one is a 90# "puppy"
The Bullmastiff will probably knock your younger girl down by accident on occasion as they are growing up, but just about any puppy will.
The Bullmastiff and Children
Most Bullmastiffs are good with children if they are brought up with children and common sense is used. Never forget that while not an aggressive dog, the Bullmastiff is a guard dog, and will be protective of those he is guarding, particularly if they are children. If he fears your child is in danger, he will react. If other children are at your home and are running, screaming, wrestling or punching each other, the dog may not be able to distinguish whether those actions are serious or not. If he perceives they are serious, he may try to interfere, and while not intending to, may inadvertently injure a child. The Bullmastiff should never be left unsupervised with other children and the dominant puppy in a Bullmastiff litter should NEVER be placed in a home with young children.
The pup is still full of energy like puppies usually are except only in spurts. I swear these 2 dogs sleep more than any other dogs I have ever been around. Very kind, gentle as a 90 or 150 pound dog can be.I would still vote for a boxer. I had one very smart one, was the kindest dog, wouldnt growl at a soul. I had my twins when he was about5-6 years old already. He would come to check on them when they cried. He was NEVER agressive with them even when they climbed all over him, pulled his ears, etc. If I ever get another dog again, it will be a boxer.
x2, all dobergirl vs dobergirl. First one set us back $800/dog + $300 for my arm....
heh, got $300 into the cattle dog (vs. doberman) and $200 into me when they got into their one and only donnybrook a few days after i first got them together.

i would stay away from a big dog if you live in town. i cruised the shelter for about a year. before getting a pair from a breeder.
i really like schnauzers. the giants are beautiful.
looked alot at heelers... crazy and alot are biters. they are working dogs and need some serious acreage to burn off the fever.
schnauzers don't shed.
it seems almost any pure breed has inherent health problems, that gets expensive.
mutts are where it is at imho. i ended up with some super mutts...
poodle crosses. laugh all you want but i have run them since babies and they are fast enough to keep up to me on my bike.
good guard dogs, not attack dogs. great with kids...
i could go on.
little dogs fit a city life style.
