Thread revival, but, when the vehicle is not moving and you push the clutch in with it in gear, there should be no shaft spinning at the input bearing. But the pilot bearing should be spinning.

So if you dont hear the noise while parked with the clutch in I would say its the input bearing.

Is the input shaft bearing still available? maybe from Toyota?

What did your local toyota dealer say?

If you cant find it through them pull it and take it to a transmission shop. Or at least try and get a part number for it and then ask cdan.

I know that I will have to replace my kit soon for my 84 bj60. Some one said the kit is avaiable from napa?

Also, did not see any comments how long a typical clutch will last in these vehicles.

Thanks

I'm in the middle of having my clutch replaced...bought a clutch kit off of e-bay from Ed at World Motor Products...great guy, much help...sent the first clutch, wrong one. We talked, he sent another, wrong one...then he did some research, said that the first clutch would have fit 95% of the BJ60's out there...mine just happens to be in the 5% that uses a 10 inch 21 spline clutch. He tracked one down in a Canadian company "Fenco"? I called, wouldn't sell it to a private party. He called numerous times, they wouldn't get back to him. He told me to try AutoZone here in MA, but since they didn't have it in their computer database (even though Fenco provides their clutches) they couldn't get it. Cruiserparts didn't have it, the one on Spectre Off Road that I looked at didn't have 21 splines...anyone know where I can get one? Any leads would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Yeah don't trust someone like that have them take a picture
I've had them rebuilt locally. You may actually find it a little cheaper than buying one!
When you say rebuild locally what do you mean?

A few decades back, rebuilding clutch discs (and brake shoes) was common, but it fell out of favour as clutches were manufactured at cheaper prices. Some big clutches for heavy machinery are still rebuilt.

Would that be nice if we can just rebuild things locally like rebuilding clutches or whatever too much stuff is imported especially from China
