hI,
Engine will not start, spill control valve has 1.9 ohms resistance, power is good going to the valve,l even hook up an electric fuel pump between the injection pump and the fuel filter,i am not getting fuel at the line just before the injector....fuel pump turns, timing belt ok..
the computer works on another truck, what else can prevent the pump from pumping fuel to the injectors??
TIA
Simon

Maybe air in the fuel lines? Can you try bleeding them at the injector to see if you get fuel? Maybe the lack of fuel caused the injectors to seize shut kind of thing?

How did the truck stall?

Cant bleed it if i have no fuel coming out the line from the injection pump......
customer was driving it....just stall

Broken suction pipe on top of the tank? Seen it many times before (dry rot)

Mike

Sent from my iPad using IH8MUD... fun starts where the road ends

simmon ,trail fix, might try lightly blowing air through the line backwards should here bubling at the tank could be blocked by crud ,baffle ,or or as said broken anywhere in the line or tank, recharge and try bleeding . and free camping at jones lake 20 km from chillawack

ok,let me explain again,l am getting lots of fuel going into the pump, but no fuel coming out the pump on the high pressure side, what in the pump can cause this??

on the 2Lt n 1KZ,the little filter is not under the spill control valve like it is under the fuel shutoff solenoid on the 1HZ/1HDT.

Hi John,l will check tomorrow if the tach move,1KZTE is new to me,is the crank angle inside the pump??
The 2LTE is on the side of the block.
Can i even buy the crank angle sensor???

Place a Jumper between TE1 and E1 in the engine check connector and see if there are any codes.

If the spill valve is bad or not energizing, the pump will not build enough pressure to inject fuel. You could try to jumper power to the spill valve TEMPORARILY to see if that gets you some fuel. If you keep power on it for too long it will get hot and burn out.

The speed sensor is the connector on the top of the pump cover. Mine is white.

The TDC sensor is on the side of the block.

Are you getting any fuel out of the overflow/return line?

These pumps are very similar to the 2LTE

There is a strainer in the distributing head. You have to remove the fuel temp sensor to access it.

Hi Todd,
l have checked the strainer n is not plugged
resistance is 1.9 ohms on the speed sensor
getting very little fuel from the overflow line
no codes,
l just can't get to the crankangle sensor yet

If you don't have codes then I think you are most likely looking at a mechanical problem with the spill valve or the plunger mechanism. The ECU would throw a code if it was failing to get data from the TDC or the speed sensor.

Did you try manually powering up the spill valve? If you try it while the engine is not cranking I think you should hear it click. Then have someone else try to start it and power it up for a second or two during cranking. If it closes you should get maximum fuel and lots of black smoke.

Since your pump is overflowing that means the lift pump is working and your Injector pump is full of fuel as it should be.

I have done a few of them having difference problems, your`s sound similar to be a bad ecu tec signal, it is located inside the ip. only 4 screws holding the cover, unplug one top wiring male socket, unlock a lock washer & unscrew one big lock nut. slowly pop it out & at the same time push the wiring socket down-off the cover. you can see the sensor is secure by two hexagon screws with lock washer.undo it and pull it out.this is the sensor,i don`t think you can buy them but look for some 2lte pump they are exectly the same sensor.

Hi john,l measured the resistance of the speed sensor is about 210 ohms, same as another sensor from a different truck.
the 1.9 ohms on post #11 is for the spill control valve.

Hi guys. This problem with the kz engine has been reported by many. In my research the only solution I could come up with is that when people replaced the pump then it would run. I knew that my pump was find it gave no indication of failing and I found that while cranking it would pump fuel to the injectors and start but as soon as you released the key fuel would stop pumping to the injectors. To make a long story short here is the problem. Which I could not find any info on the net where. But here goes: there are three screens in the fuel pump. One is in the fuel return collector pipe. This one was very dirty but not the main problem. Another screen is behind the fuel temp sensor. In my case it was clean and not a problem. The third screen is under the fuel spill control valve. It was very dirty. Fuel pressure would go into the spill control valve but would not be released. If you let it sit for a few hours the pressure would be relieved and you could start the engine again for a few minutes until it pressured up again. I had to remove my pump because I couldn't get the spill control valve out in the vehicle and even removed the injector head in order to get the spill control valve off. Once I did I removed the screen pack removed the clip cleaned the screens and put everything back together and the engine now runs very smooth and I have had no more problems with it since.
Hope this helps
