image.webp image.webp I bought 4 Toyota shocks at the dealer yesterday for a 1988 FJ62
Toyota Part # 48511-69625-front set
Toyota Part # 48531-69835 Rear
$50 each all 4 Toyota shocks for $200
I tried to get the fromts on today but the lower shock eyelet of the new shocks are too small for the shock To go on. In the photo the 3 shocks are top FJ Cruiser shock, middle- 48511-69625, bottom is the shock I removed. Middle part which is what they sold me for the 88 FJ 62 is smaller in inner diameter than the other 2.
I tried the front shocks for my 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser laying on the shelf thinking of the fastest option to drive it now and low and behold, it fit. I still need the mounting hardware but am needing help deciding what part should I have originally bought for the front of the 1988 FJ62? & If this is correct part #'s why wont it fit?
Recommendations?

I go to the dealer tomorrow and can get parts, return parts, etc.
Thanks ahead for help.

That's the wrong shock. That fits the 100 series cruiser.

You want PN: 48511-69096
Qty 2

Almost every land cruiser part is "out of stock" at a dealership. Parts always usually have to be ordered from some regional warehouse.

"Discontinued" is one thing, "Out of Stock" is nothing. (unless you need the part that day).

And at $50 a pop you can get something that is comparable for less money (Monroe, Gabriel, KYB) or spend that much or a little more and get something much nicer (Skyjacker, OME, Ironman, HFS).

Look at RockAuto if you are looking to just go with cheap stockies, they have plenty of items that will work for you.

Thanks! That helps alot.
Researching the shock rate of the 2012 FJC stock front shocks & how the ride will be putting them onto a 1988 FJ 62. They fit and are new 2012's, I may run them for a week and figure out which way to go. Free is good if it fits and works.
Looking into options toda.
