Howdy all!
I have watched this site for so long and picked up on a lot of handy conversations so big thanks to the tech wizards who have contributed their experience.

Scenario.
2001 Fzj105 - 212k on the clock.
Dual fuel, bought from old couple who towed caravan.
33" tyres.
Tough life for transmission.

- Heavy up shift, very noticeable 2-3, 3-4 *HYDRAULIC thud/clunk
- Regularly drops heavily in to D or R
- Much MORE noticeable in low range.
- Idles relatively high on petrol.. Say 700-800rpm.
- 450rpm on gas

Checks..
- No binary engine codes.
- Shift solenoids all check out at 13 ohm.
- Kickdown set at 0.5mm gap.
- Read Haynes manual back to front.
- Trans fluid and filter swapped out.. Wasn't too bad to start with

Thoughts.
- Possible slop in shift solenoid causing pressure issue.
- Over stretched kickdown cable
- TPsensor? Test procedure I found is for 4 pin, mines 3 pin connection.
- Possible to set higher oil pressure to support towing?
- overly tightened throttle cable?

I'm now at the mercy of your experience with this. Any hints or tips will be greatly appreciated.

No experience with 105 or the A343 trans, but how long have you owned it? Did this just start or was it present since the day you bought it? Could it have an aftermarket solenoid lock up kit? Those tend to hit much harder than the soft feel of OEM.

Do a search here on A343 shift issues.

A442F trans.
12 months.
Always been there so it could possibly be an aftermarket valve body.
Would a mechanic be required to fit a mod plate for such a job?

My main concern is that its not punching out any error code.
Not sure whether the LPG setup required the installers to up the RPM range to stop it
stalling on gas.
Trans inspection manual notes throttle position 0-1mm but my throttle cable doesnt look like that. *attached.
