Do you want to put heater hoses on dry or wet?
I an trying to slide a hose on but its very sticky.

I got the hose half way on and its stuck.
Its a dry hose and dry metal pipe.
I can push it on or off and it won't turn, ITS STUCK!!!

Please dont laugh but the best thing i have used has been KY jelly. Yea yea, ha ha ha ha, but seriously, its water based and is specifically designed not to hurt rubbers! You see the thought line I'm sure. When i did the heater hoses here recently the KY made those metal ends slip right into those tight hoses like, well, lets just say it was painless! :flipoff2:

At the Gates web site, they said " To simplify installation of hose, lubricate the inside with coolant before sliding it on the nipple."
Is this ok to do?

Yes, coolant, dish soap, whatever....as long as it doesn't attack the hose.

Git er done!

They sell small packets of heater hose lube near the register at Autozone & O'Reilly, about 50 cents IIRC. Not sure what it's made of, could be petorleum jelly for all I know but it works really well.

I second KY
used it on the PHH and it went in effortlessly and still does not leak.

just use windex/ glass cleaner , slippery and evaperates real quick with no resadue left, and its free because it is under your kitchen sink

I doubt that he went out and bought KY jelly JUST for this reason either...so it would be free too! :D
