Hi Mudders
I'm about to crack on with a logstanding project to get my '82 FJ40 mobile again.
I have sourced a separate intake and exhaust manifold and need to get them surface ground to true them to each other.
However, I am about 1000kms away from the project and want to get prepared so that when I get to it, I have all the gear at hand.
The exhaust manifold came with a heat deflector plate, that I want to get rid of - I live in the tropics, so the donk is never really cold. I know one of the US suppliers manufactures a blanking plate, but I want to make my own with the old one as a pattern - I would guess that it is stainless steel, but what gauge is the existing deflector?
Any help would be appreciated. I would normally buy one but the time factor is against me, and it seems like an easy thing to make.

Best regards

Yeah that's the piece.

I'm thinking that it is a straight swap for the plate with the flap on it.
Looks pretty easy to make if you have the original as a pattern.
I was hoping for any tips on thickness technique so that I have a chance to get prepared before i get the chance to fix it.

Thanks
