Reading another post made me think about something I've been wanting to do. I've got a fair amount of filth on the headliner on the drivers side, probably from a PO smoker. Any suggestions on how to clean?

Thanks

Take it to a professional detail shop. That way if they fawk it up THEY get to buy a new one for $1,238.10 instead of you....;)

This definitely one of those times to absolutely, completely, without wavering, adhere to the sage man's advice - let a pro detailer shop do it! It's just not practical for most folks to have the equipment, knowledge, etc. that a good detailing shop will have and as Dan said, any mistakes will be on their dime. I personally witnessed a friend destroy the headliner in a 60 trying to get rid of PO smoke residue and smell. He was bit neurotic and went hay-wire. If you're not familiar with the headliner on a 60, you need to pop out the rear most side windows and windshield to properly replace it (IIRC)- doh! It was amusing but not cheap. Go get a couple of quotes and have them hit the rest of your interior while they're in there. Probably time for a new tree fromt the rearview too ;)

I cleaned mine (FZJ80) with a sponge and Ivory dishsoap solution. Worked fine and it didn't fall off!

If you want to try yourself, try on one of the small trim pieces on the side that's covered in similar material. That way if it messes it up too much you only have to replace the small guy...
