I have used spray contact adhesive, with great results. For AZ you need good stuff rated for high temp. There is a good upholstery supply shop in Tempe, no idea if there is one in Podunk?

Hey if Merles Automotive or Finishmasters stocks it I'm good.
Or even Graingers, we've got an account with them..
3M makes a spray adhesive specifically for headliners. I used a regular spray contact adhesive (that said "not for headliners"), and sure enough it didn't last. So I would seek out the 3M product.
I've used 3M "Super 77" on headliners with good success. You can get it almost anywhere.

Narrowed down to 2; Super 77 or Hi-Tack 76. Both have different temp ratings and dry times.

The upholstery supply shop that I got some from to do my seat, asked first if my use was headliner. They said there were only two that would reliably work on headliners in AZ, one from 3M and one from Adhesive Solutions. I don't remember the names, but the headliner recommended ones were much more expensive and had a high temp rating.
Howdy! I use the 3M super 77 a lot at work. Much better than cheaper brands, but it is slow drying time. Home Depot used to carry that and one other number of 3M that was much better for permanent heavy duty applications. JOhn

Problem is, I have a tendency to over search something simple.
77 has a 0 to 110 degree range and a 15 to 30 minute drying time.
The High-Tack 76 has a 0 to 160 degree range and an "up to one hour" bonding time, but also has a variable range spray pattern.
I'll give the upolstery shop a call also.
I need to do the same thing for my 1996 Dodge Ram, the headliner cloth just started to sag right at the windshield. Let me know what you get and what the results are.
