Are the headlights on these things able to shut off. Off is the same as auto on ours. Daytime type lights. Can you shut off the lights with the car on?

On my '99 turning the headlights off turns the DRLs on [actually the high beam bulbs powered at low voltage, but still a good bit of light at night]. Far from stealthy.
There's a DRL defeat mod that kills the DRLs. Search for DRL here should give you details.
This should give you the desired 'stalker' setup you are after :-)

I should have mentioned mine was a 99. Seems silly you can't shut them off. I figured the PO wired them that way. Surprised that it's a factory decision. I thought it was such a dumb question I didn't think to search it. :hillbilly: Thanks!

Oh, and I'm not looking to stalk, just leave her running so my family can stay warm if I need to run into the store quick with out having lights on...

I'm not sure if it's an option on mine, but I doubt they would turn off DRL at the dealership, as they might see it as a liability. Although I haven't asked personally, but based on prior requests for far lesser issues, I doubt they would do it.

Also, I will be the environmental geek and say, STOP IDLING! :flipoff2: ;p

Seriously.....

The dealer will shut them off. Not sure if a '99 has it in the ECU or if it's hardwired. Friend of mine that's a tech had a customer specifically ask about having them disable because they were worsening his fuel economy. No joke.

I'd leave them on, it's a good safety feature. And if nothing else you can make fun of the GM trucks with DRL's that ALWAYS have one out.
