I stopped in to see a FE today and it got me thinking about the headlight performance between the FE/1958 and the LC trim. I was surprised at how small the projector appeared to be on the FE given the amount of space they had to work with. Based on pictures the projectors on the LC trim appear similar in size but with 2 running per side on the low beam I am thinking it might have an edge in overall light spread and performance. Will be interesting to see some comparisons when they are more available, I think i like how the LC lights look a bit better based strictly on appearances but I also think they may ultimately be better performing in the real world as well.

I doubt the Land Cruiser edition is using two of the same LEDs that the 1958 uses. Would also be much easier to design a refracting lens for one LED than it would for two, at least in terms of avoiding hot and cold spots in the beam pattern.

But who knows. I can't think of a single other vehicle that was launched with two distinctively different headlight designs. It's like Toyota wanted to do a FJ60 and an FJ62 homage at the same time.

I agree they wouldnt be the same, the FE/1958 would have to be a bi-led setup. Found this picture that shows a photoshop of both together, looks like the 2 main beam projects are slightly smaller and the high beam is similar in size:

Has anyone been able to compare the different LC250 headlights at night to each other or even the LC200 LED's?

I asked/tagged a bunch of 250 owners in one of the 250 threads and an FE owner stated his headlights were very similar to his previous 200, I believe.

I'm a light geek and also curious which setup is more performant. I'm guessing the tri-projector LC LC model.

I have the square lights and can take a picture tonight. I'm coming from a 2020 Taco, but the 250 lights beat the Taco and my wife's Rav4.

I'm not super impressed with my 1958's output. Low beam is adequate but the high beam is underwhelming. My wife and I have been sharing a Volvo XC40 until my LC came in, though, and I've definitely been spoiled with those headlights, so my bar is pretty high.

Related, but not entirely:

Does anyone notice that the fog lights (LC250 LC trim - square headlights) bounce and wiggle when driving at night on rough roads? We've been noticing that the beam vibrates when driving on dirt roads.

Turned off the fog lights and noticed the regular headlights don't move at all on the same roads -- but turn on the fogs, and then you get a ton of light movement. It's annoying -- curious if anyone else has come across this?

(happy to start up a new thread so I don't hijack this topic)

I have definitely noticed this as well. I've been meaning to crawl under and see if they just need tightened or something. It's very jarring to the point that I've turned mine off most of the time. I don't think I turned my 2020 Taco's fogs off the whole time I owned it.
