Hiya fellas,

I hope I posted up in the correct clubhouse for our upcoming Tucson trip this weekend but if not, feel free to move it.

My GF and I are planning on heading out that way for the weekend to just putt putt around. The plan is to tow the Kamparoo, along with our two dogs and base camp someplace. We've never explored the area around Tucson or that part of AZ for that matter. Please toss out some ideas, PM/email me, etc so that we can maximize our experience.

If any camping trips being planned in the area, point me to that thread please. It's always cool to hang with locals and get to know the area through the Mudders. I have met some of you in the past; Ross, Clark, Phil, who else? Memory is foggy these days.

The vehicle will be stock '08 4Runner V8, GF's ride and we try to stick to forest roads, dirt roads, etc type of places. It's still under 100,000 miles so it's a :princess:. Jessica is all about camping and messing around in the wild  Pin striping doesn't bother her since the color is white.

Thanks.

awesome, thank you!

Thanks to Splitshot for the great ideas on the phone, appreciated your time. The places we visited: Springerville, Alpine, Blue in AZ, then hit Mogollan, Glenwood and Reserve in NM. There was a small classic car show in Alpine and the local restaurant had great pies. We saw some luscious river valleys, hit the Frisco hot spring and covered quite a bit of ground. We also checked out the Whitewater canyon in the Catwalk Nat'l rec area. Near Blue, AZ we saw a black bear not too far from our camp. That valley is simply amazing with so much water and greenery. Although it sounds like all we did was drive, it really wasn't a whole bunch of driving since the places were close to each other. We used AAA paper maps instead of the usual gadgets ;). The maps weren't super detailed when it came to the forest roads but it was hard to get lost.

Overall, it was a nice way to see parts of AZ and NM before the heat poured on.
