I've noticed that some of the LPB headache racks have the "ears" at the top on both sides and some don't. Does anyone know why? Was it a change that was made at some point in production?

I have had both and not sure when the change over was. The one I had with ears came off a 65 production model
The new Toyota pickups here in Guatemala still have the "ears" on the headache racks. I saw an '08 '75 series diesel pickup at the dealer the other day and it had the rack with ears.
Most folks here will fit a piece of wood on top of the rack to protect it a little.
