I have a '94 LC with 253k miles. I've done some mods over the years (ARB front bumper, 3.5 OME lift) It's been a great truck that I've owned for 11 years with no major problems, and has been my father's daily driver for the last 5 years or so. I got the dreaded phone call last week that it was smoking and running rough, and after having a local mechanic look it over, it seems to be a blown HG.
Which leads to my problem--I can't find a shop that would be willing to take on the job. LexTech is a local LC favorite, but they won't work on the 80 series any longer. I had a leaky rear axle seal repaired a few years back by the Toyota dealership, as they were the only ones willing to touch the truck.
Any suggestions of reputable South Carolina (or near) shops that would be willing to take on this kind of job?
Any thoughts on other work that's worth considering "while you're in there" if I go forward with the repairs?
Thanks
