I did, but one last thing.

How well did you clean off the top of the block prior to going back together ?

I thought it was clean. Scraped and wiped with brake fluid. Anything else i should be doing?

Did you take a straight edge to it ? How clean ? I take a burring pad to mine when i do them.

Just cleaned it up and put a straight edge using .203mm feeler gauge and couldn't find any low spots. Went several directions and used a short straight edge and a long. It doesn't seem to have any issues. The head is going out tomorrow to get decked.

Do you have an air compresser ? If so get one of the angled head grinders and put a cleaning pad on it.

Hey Clint,

I sent the injectors out yesterday and the head will go to T. Hoff tomorrow AM. I'm hoping that the gaskets and the head will be ready on Friday afternoon. My schedule is up in the air, but hopefully Saturday and/or Sunday I'll be able to get back into it. While it's down, I'm doing some small things to it like tracing the rattle in the steering column, etc. I'll let you know what's going on.

Well, the head is cracked, so when i'm done kicking stuff and cursing like a sailor, I'll figure out what to do next.

Post up in our for sale / wanted thread to see if anyone has a head available. I believe ST8ROCKS swapped his 3FE last year. Maybe he has the old head still available. I wonder if you could buy a new one from Fred Anderson? Probably not cheap even if it was available.
