Looks like I am missing the fuel heater relay in my 90 HDJ 81, anyone know the part number or want to pop theirs out and post the number?

Also in the same area a port on the VSV located next to the engine compartment is busted off, it looks like it runs to the IP, what does it control?

I have the factory engine service manual and also a Ellery on the way but no luck on either question from the engine manual.

Good for you,

All the best,

I don't have this relay as well since we got the hdj81 in 2003. What does the fuel heater do? I have a similar relay with the same part number from another toyota truck. What happens if I plug in that relay to my hdj81? Or I'm better off without it cause am in the tropics?

The fuel heater helps with wax precipitation, settling and icing in lower temperatures. I personally would not worry about any part of the fuel heater in the Philippines unless it was leaking.

You ever get this running? I checked mine and I'm missing the relay as well.

Simply adding the fuel heater relay will not complete the fuel heater system. You need to actually have the fuel heater installed. I believe it is part of a specific fuel filter cap/primer assembly. I believe the fuel heater is the round device to the right of the primer button in the following photo:

So if you don't have the heater in your filter cap assembly, adding the relay isn't going to do anything except lighten your wallet.

Thanks scuba, ill check

fuel heater.

I believe Scuba Steve is correct, that little round thing is the heater element....

Who the heck is Scuba Steve?

You haven't seen Adam Sandler's movie "Big Daddy", I guess.

The fuel heater is part of the Cold Weather pkg. along with the heated seats, and pull down radiator cover.

It looks like you would have to get a new Cap Assy, that has the receptacle for the fuel heater relay.

Sadly I checked mine and no heater. One less thing to break I guess, truck seems to be more than fine without it in -20c.
