Sorry, but

Sorry mate that model is not known to me, so I decided to type 'SEQU' into google and it auto spelt SEQUOIA (TOYOTA), I then tried 'SEQO' and it auto spelt SEQOUIA (Toyota) so either way I was pretty screwed getting it right :frown:

So I took a chance and went for..........oh blimey I forgotten now.....:D

Urban Dictionary: woosh

I was in a grammar nazi mode. Spelled, not spelt. Spelt is a type of wheat.

And for what it's worth, I had a peek at my hdj81 alternator, but couldn't see any marking tags. It does look rather tiny though.

Well, I've got meself some sheckles, I gonna grab me titfor and take the trouble out with the ankle biters to get a ruby.

Oh BTW if your not from the London manor then you might not have a clue what that means either.

Tapage your a diamond, is that the same 150 amp version as used on the Sequoia? Any chance of a shot of the rear and the wiring diagram?

EDIT: Scrap that, if I am reading the number right that is a 130 amp which I think may share the same casing as a 150 amp version so I could be good to go?

thought yes .. not sure this specific one that I use it's from Tundra .. and I follow all directions from the 80 series thread from Bill ( Photoman ) who include in he's thread pics of the connector you will need to run it as a factory alt ..

this it's the thread ...

Yep I saw that and contacted Bill and he was not sure if it would work with the diesels. When I saw the original pictures of the alternator on the right of the engine (gasoline) looking from the front I did wonder if there would be any issues because of the opposite side mounting, of course the alternator on the gasoline model is fitted upside down :D

Thanks very much for that Tapage, your the man.............well I have assumed you are a man.

David,
A couple of questions, the alternator size and position on the 1HD-T and the 1HZ are the same right?

Assuming that the answers to each are yes, I read through the thread (REALLY LONG BUT GOOD) and it seems that the way to go would be the 150 amp alternator from a 2005 Sequoia although anything from 2003-2007 seemed to work for folks. Are the 130amp and the 150 amp alternator the same size housing? I know that the 150 is alot more capacity than I need right now but I TRY to do mods allowing for future growth/ capacity needs. (I´m not the guy who does a mod and then two years later decides that I really need more power/capacity etc and then have to go back and re-mod my earlier mod.)

Again assuming that the answers are yes, can I use the stock alternator bracket and pulley with either the 130 amp or the 150 amp alternator or do nwe have to use some after market/ fab bracket solution like the 1FZ guys did in the above thread?

Thanks,
John

No and NO, sorry mate. First the body of the OE 80 amp is smaller. Second and IIRC assuming you are looking at the engine face on the 1FZ has the alternator on the RH side of the engine and 'hanging' from the support, the adjuster is at the bottom so you tip the bottom of the alternator away from the block to tighten the belt.

On the diesel the alternator is on the lefthand side of the engine and 'stands' on the bracket if that make sense and the adjuster is at the top so you move the top of the alternator away from the block to tighten the belt.

Here is a couple of pic, I am sure one (1FZ) is from Bill (Photoman), thanks bill or possibly Brian, anyway, the other alt on the left side is from my own diesel car.

I hope I have that all correct somebody prod me if I got it wrong,

Dave,
Sorry I was asking Tappage about the alternator comparison between the 1HD-T and the 1HZ not the 1FZ and the 1HZ. Thanks anyway and sorry for the confusion.
John

well I have assumed you are a man.

I need to " clean " a bit my lower alt mount in my 1HD-T but nothing really major .. it fits right on.

Are the 130amp and the 150 amp alternator the same size housing?

yes .. they are. and stated bigger than my stock 80 series 80 amps alt ..

Again assuming that the answers are yes, can I use the stock alternator bracket and pulley with either the 130 amp or the 150 amp alternator

80 series stock alt pulley won't work in my tundra alt .. and I need to moddify the upper 1HD-T bracket.

I mentioned this idea in your Marilu 2010 thread in 80 Tech, but I figured it was worth reposting here. Why not use the stock alternator pulley from a 1FZ-FE on your 1HD/Tundra alt combination? The 1FZ pulley is dual groove like the 1HD, and bolts to the 130/150A alternators with no modification. A new 1FZ pulley is about $40 IIRC.

Interesting, assuming that takes care of the pulley issue, what about the bracket?

it defintally shoudl work as a wise option .. for those interested in more pics and info about the alt swap here is the Marilu thread . .

David,
Cool. What are you doing about a bracket? Sounds like youi are about to fab one, I assume that is because there is nothing else out there that would work as a plug and play solution.
Thanks,
John

Oh gawd how sad am I, 04.30 in the morning and I'm playing on mud? I was woken by the heat it is so hot here at the moment, banged on the AC, made a cold drink and got on to the laptop.

To answer your question about the bracket if you look at my 80 OE set up the bracket does not look a million miles away from Tapage's set up and it may even be stock or very close?

Dave

Hmmm, some number crunching on the EPC show a twin pulley AND a serpentine ribbed type with the same part number which is 27411, it could be me and the way I am interpreting the diagrams.... I'm going back to bed.....yawn...
