Hello all- I searched the forums for old info. but didn't have much luck. I recently replaced front pads with 100 series and like the stopping power. Today I was looking at rear pads (about 30% pad remaining).

I'm going to change the rears soon, and would like to maximize the braking power- especially for towing a trailer in hilly terrain with idiot (Atlanta) drivers that like to cut you off sometimes.

Whats the experience people have with Hawk HPS or the heavier duty LTS pads? I would like to:
1) increase stopping power
2) minimize brake fade (without having a "race compound" type pad)
3) hopefully this will not produce heavy amounts of noise or dust, but I can live with that if needed
4) I would like to not shorten the lifespan of the rotor also if thats an option

Thoughts anyone???????????

THANKS!

Try this post, it should pop up if you search for "hawk brake pads" in the 80 series tech section.

edit: if you go with something other than OEM, please post up the results. It'd be nice to have some more data points on aftermarket products. I'm tempted to try the Hawk LTSs based on Cary's results.

edit: Obviously I was running a little slow last night. I didn't catch that you needed only rears and cary was running only fronts.

Rick I have had several different pads.
TRD pads ..Horrible! So I went to. AXXIS pads:
Axxis Pads : They had good stopping power WAY TOO MUCH DUST.
then I went to HAWK pads. I loved them! Great stopping power and very little dust. I highly recommend them. They did not mess up the rotors.

Last I checked there was no rear Hawk pad fitmit. I bought some Axxis ultimates to put in there, but I am waiting until it gets below 100f in my garage to put them in and repack the rear bearings.

Well there inlies the debate. I have OEM now which work fine. When I had the Hawks they just grabbed better...they are metallic I believe. After I warped my rotors ( not because of the Hawks pad but because of not readjusting my BPV after my lift )..I went back to factory pads. Honestly, I believe after reading this thread, I will go order some HAWK pads again. So Cary, you say there is no rear pads available from Hawk??

When I ordered the pads there were not. The Hawks (LTS fitment for the LC is the best) are a Carbon mix pad, not a metallic by the way. Porterfield does make a rear fitment, but I was told by a race shop that does nothing but brakes (and sell all three major brands of Carbon pads so no bais) so skip the porterfields for a heavy truck, they would just tear up the rotors.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am happy with OEM, just always looking for improvements.

I looked at Tirerack.com and found the Hawk HPS and LTS compound pads for front. They apparently only make the HPS/normal compound ones for the rear for the Cruiser.
